Here is another small sampling of the 100′s of testimonials that City Duct Cleaning has acquired over the years. We literally have stacks of these in our office and while we are thrilled with each and every testimonial, it would be impossible to post them all here. Our sincere thanks go out to all of you that have taken the time to call or write to let us know how we are doing.

Some of these people have called in their testimonials, while others have written and then mailed in an air duct cleaning testimonial or even a dryer vent cleaning testimonial. We have also gathered several comments and short reviews from our Quality Control Questionaires that we ask our customers to fill out while we are on site.

“Job was very well done. Neat, courteous and cleaned up work very well. Very good all around.”

“We were very pleased with the work performed. Your crew was on time, professional, and worked very efficiently.”

Duct Cleaning Procedure

July 18, 2010 By: Glenn Category: Duct Cleaning Info, Duct Cleaning Reviews, Duct Cleaning Services, Uncategorized No Comments →

The duct cleaning procedure in a Toronto area home starts with a visual inspecion of your heating and air duct system. Hoses are then run from the truck and into your home. A vacuum hose is usually brought in through a basement window, or sometimes it is set up through your front door and down the basement stairs.

An air hose is run from the truck to the top floor, usually to the furthest air vent from the truck.

Access holes are created in the duct system, and the vacuum hose is inserted directly into the duct system.

Once the truck-mounted vacuum is turned on, all vents are covered to create the strongest possible suction. After sufficient pressure builds up in our air tank, all vents are cleaned using 250 psi of compressed air.

When the air vents have been cleaned, we use a combination of air whips and an air snake inside the main ducts to work all the dirt back towards our vacuum. All of the air handling parts of your system are thoroughly cleaned, and all access openings are covered and sealed.

At City Duct Cleaning, we always include the cleaning of your furnace fan, air conditioning coil and the air filter as part of the job. Most other companies do charge extra to clean these items, and that leaves open the possibility that some homeowners will have their duct systems “cleaned” but will choose not to spend the additional money to clean those crucial items of the system.

It is very important to clean the fan and coil during the duct cleaning procedure, so why do so many companies make those items optional and at an additional charge? You guessed it… half the time they’re too busy trying to suck money out of you instead of making sure they do a real job. What happened to the days when people used to take pride in their work? At City Duct Cleaning, we take great pride in the fact that we do an honest and thorough job for every customer. Our work is guaranteed, too.

The picture above shows our duct truck parked a bit away from the house. That’s because when our vacuum is running, we are sucking so much air out of the entire home, and the doors and windows are open too. We park away from the door and run extra hose in order to prevent exhaust from our powerful engine from entering the home. Even a little is too much.

Many people agree that its those little things that matter. We also train our technicians to be as conscientious as possible while on a job site because all the seemingly small precautions we take as well as our expertise combine to make very happy customers. That’s certainly a part of the reason why we continue to win so many awards for duct cleaning excellence in Toronto.

What about video inspection cameras?

Frequently Asked Questions

In my professional opinion, video inspection is unnecessary to effectively view and clean  the average residential duct system

We can simply put our head up inside the Duct where our vacuum is hooked up and physically view the duct’s interior with our own eyes.

In fact many of the CHEAP wireless inspection cameras are of very poor quality and can actually make a dirty duct system appear to be clean.

The technician will be unable to show you inside any of the heating vents with these cameras and he will be limited to showing you only a small portion of the main ducts.

From our many years of experience we have found that a visual inspection with the use of a flashlight, mirror, inspection holes and our own eyes will offer a much clearer picture of how the duct work appears at the end of our cleaning.

So if any duct cleaning company claims that they will do a superior cleaning due to the fact that they use an inspection camera, I suggest you challenge them to prove that they are getting their inspection camera into all the areas of your duct system…It’s simply impossible!

We do have this equipment but we use it only in rare cases, those being for example, when we are looking for someone’s lost ring or while searching out specific problems.

Duct Cleaning Technicians Versus HVAC Technicians

July 09, 2010 By: admin Category: Duct Cleaning Info, Duct Cleaning Services, HVAC Equipment, Maintenance Tips, Uncategorized 1 Comment →

As the owner of a very successful duct cleaning business as well as a seasoned technician I am often asked by our customers if we are qualified to clean their furnace/AC system and my response is this…

The cleaning that a duct cleaner can do on your furnace/AC only consists of cleaning the components that the air moves through, However, the law is very clear in this matter and states that Duct Cleaning companies may only clean these conveyance components while they remain in tact and they may never be removed or altered in any way whatsoever.

With that being said you should also note that a reputable Duct Cleaning company should be equipped with several unique cleaning tools that will enable them to a good job of cleaning the conveyance components while leaving them in place.

I feel it is my duty as a professional to inform homeowners that what a duct cleaner does on your HVAC system is no substitute for what a certified Heating/Air Conditioning Tech (HVAC Tech) will do on the system when it comes to doing a tune up and diagnostics.

The law is very strict when it comes down to what a Duct Cleaner can and cannot do on an HVAC system

Duct cleaning companies are prohibited from doing any cleaning in the combustion area of your furnace, this is the area where the burners, pilot light, gas valves and electrical components are located and are completely off limits to any unlicensed individuals.

Any unlicensed individuals that are poking around in that area of your HVAC equipment are violating state and provincial laws and should be reported to the proper authorities, it should also be noted that should anything go afoul they will not be covered by their insurance company.

We are often told by our customers that such and such duct cleaning company claims that they will do an inspection on the HVAC system as part of their procedure.

If any duct cleaning company ever claims that will do any sort of inspection or diagnostics to your heating/AC system, I strongly urge you not to retain their services and to report them to your local consumer protection branch.

The only exception to the above would be if the Company employed a properly certified HVAC technician that would be doing the actual inspection or service work or if the duct cleaning company was contracting out to another company that is HVAC Certified, in which case you would be wise to ask for proof of qualifications.

We do provide this service on gas furnaces only, and we do always send a licensed technician to do this.

Dryer Duct Cleaning Experts – The Problem Solvers

July 07, 2010 By: admin Category: Dryer Ducts, Duct Cleaning Info, Duct Cleaning Services, Uncategorized No Comments →

Over the years we’ve cleaned so many dryer exhaust duct systems, and from time-to-time we get called in to solve a venting problem that no one else could seem to take care of.

These are some shots of a recent dryer vent cleaning that we did in downtown Toronto. The homeowner had two different companies in before us, and both of them charged her too much money and didn’t even solve the problem.

The first guy came with a leaf blower, took the flex off the back of the dryer and blew in there with it. He pissed around for about an hour but didn’t come close to solving the problem with the dryer duct, and still charged her almost $400.

The second company came, and didn’t have a ladder either, even though she told them on the phone that her dryer vent is high up. These guys did a little better but still turned out to be useless. That was another $350.00 and again the problem was not solved. The dryer was not venting because nobody even tried to clean it properly. And these guys call themselves duct cleaners?

The homeowners here were very happy with the job that we did, and that’s because we completely solved the venting problem. I could explain the entire procedure quite easily but I won’t, because I have a real feeling that few duct cleaners in Toronto really know how to do this job properly anyway. So why give them any lessons?

The dryer duct on this job ran above the ceiling on the 2nd floor to the dryer, which was located completely on the opposite side of the house. This home is a semi, so that’s why it didn’t vent straight out the other wall.

This duct was completely plugged when we got there even though two other duct cleaning companies had (attempted to) clean it. We got it done perfectly. It took some doing, but the end result of course… perfection again. Like always.

The homeowner here was so happy with our work that she called us back a week later to do the duct cleaning in her whole house. Making our customers happy and earning their trust and future business is what we do best!

If you have any problems with your dryer duct, call City Duct Cleaning first.

Clean Air At Last

July 04, 2010 By: admin Category: Duct Cleaning Info, Duct Cleaning Reviews, Duct Cleaning Services, Indoor Air Quality, Uncategorized No Comments →

Just a few months ago one of our customers told us he was feeling very ill and stuffed up every time he spent any more than half an hour in his own home. We went in and cleaned his air ducts and installed a whole-house hepa filtration system. This customer also took our recommendation that he purchase a smaller room-sized portable hepa filter for the master bedroom and now according to this gentleman, everything especially his health has changed for the better. Much better.

During subsequent follow-up calls, he stated that he was highly impressed with the duct cleaning we did. The technicians showed him all the dirt that was coming out of the ducts before it got sucked into our large hose. He also opted to have his duct system sealed and deodorized after the cleaning was done as we suggested, and all in all this turned out to be another amazing job well done by us, City Duct Cleaning Inc., the air quality problem solvers. We’re damned good at what we do.

We also explained how to adjust the duct vents and dampers with the changing seasons so they can continue to enjoy the best possible air flow in their home all year long.

If you and your family are suffering from poor indoor air quality like many people are, then you owe it to yourself to call City Duct. People never seem to even imagine that one call can have their air quality problems solved so quickly and easily.

Candles Are Pretty But Also Deadly

July 01, 2010 By: John Category: Indoor Air Quality, Uncategorized No Comments →

Did you know that it only takes seconds for a flickering flame to engulf your home? In past years, the popularity of candles has increased greatly and so has the number of house fires.

People leaving a candle burning on a table do not realize the potential damage awaiting them. Fires will spread quickly and the heat, smoke, gases, soot and toxic fumes could be deadly.Your home’s furnace ventilation system, when running, acts like a vacuum and can draw in all the smoke from a candle and spread it throughout your home in a matter of minutes creating a sooty mess you can’t imagine.

So in the future, please remember that even though candles are romantic and pretty…they can also be deadly.

How does this relate to an air duct cleaning blog? We’ve been doing fire restoration for over two decades now, and have been to literally hundreds of house fires that have been caused by burning candles… or at least by candles that people thought were extinguished but weren’t. What we do, the air duct cleaning and deodorizing of the HVAC system, is a small part of the complete fire restoration service.
